When you join the Stormcloaks you may meet him in the field during/before a battle. But If the Stormcloak won the war, Ralof will be in the Sleeping Giant Inn (fully geared), while Hadvar will be smithing at Alvor's (also wounded - This is optional) So choose the side wisely! with Ralof you get better armor and 1-handed weapons (imperial armor, boots, bracers, swords) with Hadvar you get MORE weapons (mainly 2-hand) and armor (mainly standard crap armor), but remember quantity does not mean quality. The "ugly" line can be said only once. From what I understand Hadvar is more difficult because of the voice over(?).
