Departures is a movie which involves the viewer in an ancient Japanese tradition of the honoring of the dead and the deceased's family and relatives. The movie is a paean to the good-looking corpse. Our Departures was quite a nice film, but a little too saccharine for it to be great and I have a rather sweet tooth. She goes to her late husband’s hometown of Kagoshima with her 9-year-old step son Shunya.
